The tour runs in a clockwise circle that leads to a massive influx of a huge herd of animals. The main reason for this ancient route is to find fresh food and water. The journey begins in July and lasts until October or November.
The great migration of wildebeest herds include (GNU), zebras,Eland and Thomson's gazelles. They follow a path of good, solid and make the transition from one place to another. During this period, approximately 1.5 million wildebeest, 300,000 Thomson's gazelles and 100,000 zebras crossover from side to side. The most spectacular sights in this drama is that the different herds of the Grumeti River in Tanzania to reach and try to overflow the crossover to the other side of river. The same happens when you try toCrossing the Mara River in Kenya.
A key feature of this whole trip is that there are many in this period Claves also attracts predators born. But nature has its own system of security and balance. The calves of the GNU, within two minutes of birth, and within the next 8 minutes will also be able to run with their mothers. Amazing!
But it also means that mortality may be too high to maintain the balance. Throughout the cycle, about 250,000 wildebeest perish, either due to illness, age or prey for predators.
& Time course of the trip (Tanzania to Kenya): December to March: This is the calving season for wildebeest in the plains of the Serengeti. You can easily see (so called because the soldiers do) the huge herds, zebras and gazelles GNU. The calves are usually in February, attracts predatory animals born in their wake. After the rainy season, these animals begin to move gradually toward the north and the other flocks and herds far larger number of forms. This is also the mating season of wildebeest.
July: The first obstacle to their flocks, the Grumeti River, which can be deep and crowded, there has been a good rainfall. can cross this river is the most spectacular scene isever imagine. There are cases of drowning because of the depth and crocodiles lying in wait for the weak and the weak.
In late July, they make a second river crosses the Mara River, which is full of crocodiles. September-November: the Mara Plains of these animals are spotted everywhere you look. They are followed of course by the thieves who come in all shapes and sizes. You can easily see, after the big cats hunt mode with the hyena and the wildDogs.
